Scanner Studio Privacy Policy
Version: 1.1
Effective Date: 2026-07-29
Last Updated: 2026-07-29
1. How We Protect Your Information
Scanner Studio (the “App”) is operated by GuangZhou Netum Electronic Technology Co., Ltd.(迅镭(广州)智能科技股份有限公司) (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we process information relating to you when you use the App and how you may exercise your rights.
We process personal information in accordance with the principles of lawfulness, legitimacy, necessity, and good faith. The App currently focuses on scanner configuration and local data management. Except when you choose to export or share files or open an online page provided by us, the App does not automatically upload your device configuration, scan business content, or local logs to our servers. Loading an online page generates the network requests necessary to deliver that page, but we do not attach your device configuration, scan business content, or local logs to those requests. We do not use your data for cross-app or cross-website advertising tracking, and we do not sell your personal information.
2. Information We Process, Why, and How
| Feature / Scenario | Information Processed | Purpose and Method | Required? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Discovering, connecting to, and configuring scanners | Bluetooth permission status, Bluetooth device identifier, device display name, selected model, connection/session status, device model, firmware version, SDK version, battery level, and capability and setting-support information | To discover, connect to, initialize, and configure the scanner you select through system Bluetooth capabilities. The raw reconnect identifier is stored only in protected local storage; ordinary local records use a hashed device identifier. | Yes. Denying Bluetooth-related permissions prevents the relevant feature from working. |
| Local templates and configuration records | Template names, setting items, target values, compatible models, template application history, setting write results, and drift records that you create | To save, display, reuse, and troubleshoot scanner configurations locally. | Required when you use this feature. |
| Scan tests and diagnostics | Operation time, hashed device identifier, model, firmware/SDK version, operation type, setting item, result, error code, duration, retry count, scan length, symbology, summary hash, and necessary redacted diagnostic fields | To troubleshoot locally, view history, and export support information when you choose to do so. Complete scan business content, complete raw bytes, and plain-text unique device identifiers are not recorded by default. | Required when you use these features. |
| Data reception | Scan-content bytes, display text, symbology, reception time, hashed device identifier, model, device name, and source | To display records sent by a scanner or uploaded from its memory. By default, complete content is retained only for the current session. It is saved in the local database only after you choose “Save to device.” | Required for real-time display; persistent local storage is optional. |
| Export, sharing, and support troubleshooting | Templates, received data, or support/diagnostic packages you select for export; a support package generally includes App and protocol versions, hashed device identifier, model, firmware/SDK version, error codes, and redacted operation traces | To generate a local file when you initiate the action and use system sharing capabilities to deliver it to a recipient you select. Default diagnostic packages exclude complete scan business content, raw bytes, and plain-text device identifiers. | Optional. |
| Online settings manual | The manual URL you choose to visit and network-access information needed to load the page, such as IP address, browser/device information, request time, and network-log identifiers | To open an online settings manual maintained by us within the App. The page is delivered through third-party cloud-hosting and content-delivery providers, which may process necessary network-access information solely for page delivery, caching, security protection, and troubleshooting. | Optional. |
Scan Content
Scan content may include personal information, customer information, order information, product information, or other sensitive business data. To reduce risk:
- By default, complete scan content in the data-reception page is displayed only for the current App session and is not automatically written to persistent local storage. Diagnostic and scan-test records retain only summary information, such as length, symbology, suffix, and hash.
- Only after you explicitly enable “Save to device” does the App store complete scan content, raw bytes, display text, and related reception information on your device. If you turn the setting off, subsequently received data is retained only for the current session.
- Saved complete data is not automatically uploaded to us and is not automatically deleted. You may clear it from the Data Reception page. Please actively clear it when handing over your device, uninstalling the App, or when it is no longer needed.
- If you export or share a file containing complete scan content, the information enters the file, sharing, or receiving environment you choose. You are responsible for confirming the recipient and sharing scope and for complying with applicable personal-information and data-protection obligations.
3. Permissions
The App requests only permissions needed for the relevant features and does so when you use them. You may manage permissions in your device settings. Disabling a permission may make the relevant feature unavailable.
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Bluetooth scanning and Bluetooth connection | To discover, connect to, configure, and read the status of compatible scanners. |
| Location-related permission (certain Android versions) | Because of Android Bluetooth-scanning mechanisms, some older Android versions may require a location-related permission to discover Bluetooth devices. The App does not use that permission to obtain your physical location for a business purpose. |
| Network access | To load the online settings manual that you choose to open and to support relevant system-sharing capabilities. |
The App currently does not request camera, contacts, SMS, microphone, telephone, or precise-location permissions in its main application manifest.
4. Storage, Retention, and Deletion
- Storage location. The App currently stores business data in its local application directory on your device. We do not provide account-based cloud synchronization and do not create a user profile on our servers through your ordinary use of the App.
- Local protection. The raw reconnect identifier is used only for local automatic reconnection and is stored in protected device storage. Ordinary business caches, templates, and logs are associated with a hashed device identifier. We apply data minimization, redaction, and local isolation measures appropriate to the current functionality. You must also protect your device, system account, and exported files.
- Diagnostic and history records. Operation and diagnostic logs retain up to 1,000 entries by default and automatically clear entries older than 7 days. Ordinary scan-reception summaries retain up to 500 entries. Template application history, scan-test records, and offline setup-code generation history each retain up to 200 entries by default and automatically clear entries older than 7 days.
- Locally retained content. Custom templates, recent devices, device caches, and complete data-reception records saved after you enable local storage are not subject to the automatic-deletion rules above. They are generally retained until replaced, manually cleared, the App is uninstalled, or the system clears App data.
- How to delete. In “Me - Data & Privacy,” you may clear recent devices, custom templates, template drift, write/diagnostic logs, scan-test records, offline-delivery records, and device caches separately. You may clear the App reception list in “Data Reception.” Clearing the App list does not automatically clear a scanner’s own storage. Clearing scanner storage is a separate device action; confirm that you have backed up data before doing so.
5. Sharing, Transfer, Public Disclosure, and Cross-Border Transfers
- We do not sell your personal information and do not automatically share, transfer, or publicly disclose your personal information to third parties through your ordinary use of the App.
- When you actively use system sharing, export a file, copy content, or send a support package, the relevant information is processed by the recipient or system service you select under its own rules. When you open an online page provided by us, the network-access information necessary to complete the page request is transmitted to our cloud-hosting or content-delivery providers; we do not actively attach your device configuration, scan business content, or local logs to that request. Please exercise care when choosing what to share and with whom.
- Where we must process or provide information in response to applicable laws, judicial authorities, or authorized administrative authorities, we will do so in accordance with applicable law.
- If a merger, division, dissolution, bankruptcy, or other change of entity in the future involves a transfer of personal information, we will notify you of the recipient’s information and contact details as required by law and require the recipient to continue fulfilling the obligations in this Policy.
- The App does not currently transfer your local business data to our servers outside your country or region. If you choose to share files with an overseas recipient or visit a third-party webpage operated by an overseas entity, the relevant information may be transferred across borders. Please confirm the recipient and its privacy rules before proceeding.
6. Third-Party Services
- The App uses operating-system capabilities for Bluetooth, storage, sharing, and permission management, and an SDK to connect to and configure scanners. The current code does not include analytics, advertising, account sign-in, or cloud-storage services that process user business data. It also does not use advertising identifiers for personalized advertising or cross-app tracking.
- The online settings manual that you choose to open currently points to
https://www.scandocs.net/go/scanner-setting-manuals/. We maintain the content of that page and deliver it through third-party cloud-hosting and content-delivery providers. The current page does not configure advertising, user-account sign-in, or user-behavior analytics scripts. The providers may process necessary information such as IP address, browser/device information, request time, and network-log identifiers for page delivery, caching, security protection, and troubleshooting. - The online settings page may contain links to other online manuals or external resources. If you choose to open such a page, the relevant website will process network-access information under its own privacy rules.
- Third-party service practices may change as their services are updated. We will prudently assess integrations where required by law and update this Policy and the applicable app-store disclosures if our data practices change materially.
7. Privacy Information for App Store Versions
- This Policy applies to the processing described above regardless of whether you obtain the App from Google Play, the Apple App Store, or another lawful channel.
- We will accurately describe the data practices of the current version and integrated third-party code in App Store privacy disclosures, and will update those disclosures and this Policy if our data practices, permissions, or third-party services change.
- You may manage privacy choices through your device’s application-permissions page, the App’s local-data clearing controls, and the contact channels listed in this Policy. We will not deny core Bluetooth configuration functionality because you decline optional processing that does not affect that core functionality.
8. Your Rights and How to Exercise Them
To the extent provided by applicable law, you may have rights to access, copy, correct, delete, withdraw consent for, receive an explanation of, and complain or report the processing of your personal information.
- Manage permissions and withdraw consent. You may turn off Bluetooth or location-related permissions in your device settings. We will no longer process relevant information through that permission, but the corresponding feature may no longer work.
- Access and delete local data. You may view and clear relevant content through the App’s local-record, Data & Privacy, or Data Reception pages.
- Request information or exercise rights. If you need an explanation of this Policy or our personal-information practices, or wish to submit another rights request, contact us using the channels in Section 11. Because the App does not create a cloud account or user database, some requests can be completed directly on your device. After verifying your request, we will handle it as required by applicable law.
- Complaints and reports. If you believe that our processing harms your lawful rights, you may contact us first. You may also complain or report the matter to a competent regulator.
9. Minors
The App is primarily intended for adults and organizational users. If you are a minor, use the App only with the consent and guidance of your parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14. If we discover such a situation, we will take measures required by law.
10. Policy Updates
We may update this Policy because of changes in laws, product features, data practices, or security measures. For material changes affecting your personal-information rights, we will provide notice through appropriate means. The updated Policy will state its version and effective date on the published page. Your continued use of the relevant Service after it takes effect means that you understand the updated content.
